Nutrition
Nutrition is vital. The fuel you choose to run your body with lays the very foundation to your overall health. Regardless of your activity level, current age and weight, your diet will catch up to you. That can be a good thing or a bad thing. Please note that when we say diet we mean your dietary habits. In simple terms -the food you eat is your diet. Most of us need to restructure the way we perceive the word diet. Consider this. The Shaolin Monks more than likely had no word for diet. They ate simple foods which were home grown and hand prepared. Their days consisted of hours of study, meditation, and rigorous physical exercise. Those ingredients alone negate the need for any “diet”.
The trick for us today in a modern society is finding balance. Some of us eat for emotional reasons and most of us tend to use food as a way to connect with friends and family. “Let’s do lunch” This human trait is not inherently bad. Living the martial way is about moderation and discipline. Weather at lunch with friends or at home watching television.
To give you some ideas we would like to build a collection of healthy recipes. Some are instructor favorites. Others brought in by students. If you can think of one that we have missed please submit it for us. Thank you. THE RECIPES
